The Wristwatch

by Sondos   Feb 24, 2006

The wristwatch has a one-way ticket
To a land of sparkles and sunshine
Where hands seize the seconds
Minutes battle with time
And are finally dropped
Into a pit of shallow memories
Where people felt yellow
And the sun was blue

Where what happened was distorted
Twisted like clay
Into more interesting shapes
Peaches from the cherry tree
Potatoes from the orchard

The wristwatch keeps time
Only we lose it
The land of time and the land of us
Play peekaboo constantly

Truth is an unsung hero
Always there, rarely acknowledged

I love your style, its so unique, and leaves so much to the reader, and yet, still has its own meaning. great poem. this reminded me of something from peter pan lol

Again a very cool view on a topic I haven't really thought too much about. I like your prospective and how you weave your thoughts into your poem so well. I also thought the title was very fitting and worked to really bring out the poem.
