A broken Friendship

by *fading*away*   Feb 25, 2006

You once said that friendship was fragile
You said you'll handle ours with care
And maybe then it won't break,
Maybe we could prove the world
That our friendship could last,
That it would never fade or break in two

Well, I wonder now if it was all a dream
Because you broke my heart again and again
You tore apart our friendship bond
Over and over again
Muttering muted 'sorry's,
But you never meant them

I never gave up on you
Because best friends never do
But every night, I dreamt of you,
And hoped we'll be the way we were before
The next day,
Forever

But you pushed me away,
Pushed our friendship aside,
You thought you were meant for greater things
Friendship was just too fickle, too fragile
And you just never cared behind that empty smile

Don't consider me a fool
Just because I chase after you every time
Before hoisting the sail,
Think this over again just one more time

If, in your journey,
You ever need a friend,
Someone you can confide in,
Someone who understands,
Know that I wouldn't be there
Because you were the one
Who cast me aside
And left me in this blinding rain

I just don't know
How you could turn out this way
The person in you has changed
Youâ??ve become a stranger,
I don't even recognize
And the best friend I had known
Had flown away into the abyss of my past,
To the pages of my history,
To the fickle memories playing in my mind
