Fifteen Years

by No Need For A Name   Feb 25, 2006

Spent fifteen years in a bottle glass
Got picked up by somebody at last
Never knowin' they were holdin' my life so tight
Never knowin' of my fifteen year fight

Spent fifteen years on a desert island
Just sittin' here waitin' for somebody to find
Never knowin' how much time it would take
Never knowin' how much time I'd have to wait

(Chorus)
So fifteen years gone by in my life
Can't wait to get to my darling wife
My kids all grown up by now
Gotta get back my life don't know how
And fifteen years just taken from me
Every passing moment just misery
Now back to the world that I don't know
Now back to a life of come and go

Spent fifteen years alone in the dark
Spent my time ripping me apart
Take my last piece of sanity
Take my last little shred of dignity

(Chorus)
So fifteen years gone by in my life
Can't wait to get to my darling wife
My kids all grown up by now
Gotta get back my life don't know how
And fifteen years just taken from me
Every passing moment just misery
Now back to the world that I don't know
Now back to a life of come and go

Spent fifteen years just dreamin' of you
Nothing else here to ever do
Dream of making love at the night
Forgot the anger forgot the fights

(Chorus)
So fifteen years gone by in my life
Can't wait to get to my darling wife
My kids all grown up by now
Gotta get back my life don't know how
And fifteen years just taken from me
Every passing moment just misery
Now back to the world that I don't know
Now back to a life of come and go

I can really feel this poem, although i seem to be missing something...is the 'message in a bottle' metaphorical, in which case, what happened to this person for 15 years? or is it the mesage personified? :s

good luck in my contest and keep writing xx
