A Heartbeat

by Jemma   Feb 28, 2006

Time lies sleeping with a land of ice as the world
And I forget to care as I am locked in
The threads and strands to twist about me
I'm tying myself up with you

An eternity may yet have passed
Irrelevant while you're here
Just me and you, oblivious to life
Aware of us, it's all that matters

A spark that's never been there before
A light that shines from your eyes
Despite the nights and days that pass
I still stand here looking at you

Standing alone as people pass about us
Stood like statues, not breaking the gaze
Everlasting breath as we can't break our silence
A heart touching a heart

Hands wrapped about me
Forget how they came there
All I know is I'm close to you
All I know is I'm here with you, near you

Can't think of anything as we stand together
Just holding tight to each other
A week may have passed, years of youth
Yet it passed in a heartbeat
