Dead and Gone

by AllHailTheHeartbreaker   Mar 3, 2006

The car smashed into the tree
a result of your beautiful disease
In the back of our minds
we always knew it would end this way.

We never wanted you to leave
it doesn't seam real to me
Not yet, anyway, but check back again
because my hands are still cold and shaking.

You should've just gone home
I never wanted you to go through this alone
Somehow I wish I was in the passenger seat
bleeding to death with you.

Finally a sob escapes
and Ian pulls me away
I call out your name
but death can't hear screams.

He tells me it's OK
but I can't make sense of this
I just wish you hadn't gone away
I wish you would've at least said goodbye.

Is this what it took
for you to get all this attention?
You'll never be here to see us cry
you won't know the sadness we feel.

At your funeral
Ian brought your mother white roses
He was always your best friend, you know
he and I loved you the most.

And Kellie -- your girlfriend
cried her heart out for your soul
She's convinced you're gone
you just had to mention hell, didn't you?

I won't forget you
so don't worry
I loved you like a brother,
you knew that, kid.

So these words in this poem
will have to be enough
Tucked into the flowers on your grave
as my own goodbye to you.

    by just a poet

Wow. this is one of the best poems i've ever read and if this is true all i cans say is that im always here if u need a friend. i reali feel the pain in this poem and its allways hard to comment on something like this but u write so simply it trebles the effect and reali drives the message home. take care and i hope things get better.
