My Best Friend

I met her one summer day
At the age of 10
And i knew from that moment
She would be my best friend
We spent those next 5 years together
Each day and night
It was sort of scary when we realized
How much we were alike
Then one day we shared secrets
And it was trhe best day of our life
Until later that night I saw
her cutting her wrist with a small sharp knife
I gasped in shocked
As she slammed the door in my face
Screaming from the other side
"You understand if you were in my place"
As she cried fro herself
I cried for her too
Because deep down inside
I knew there was nothing I could do
I thought her life was great
And she was as happy as can be
But now I realized
She was worse off than me
Even though i had no father
And lived with my sick mother
All she had was to take care of her 3 little sisters
And try to control an over abusive brother
I grabbed her and hugged her
Letting her know that I cared
As tears and great sarrow
Is all that she bared
2 years later
She had helped herself well
But then one summer night
All her recovery fell...
As I went to her house
Knowing something was not right
It was like death filled the air
That one summer night
When I finally reached her house
Her brother said she had died
But it wasn't just death
It was pure suicide
As I sat there in tears
All I could think of was the memories we shared
And hoping at the moment
she knew how much I cared
Now as each day passes
She is STILL on my mind
And I pray that what she wanted
Is maybe what she got to find
Even though years have past
I still think of her
Each and everyday
Because she was my best friend
That I dearly loved
And in my heart
She will forever stay
