Cupcake

by May Lee   Mar 11, 2006

(Dedicated to my daughter Cupcake who whines when Im not there, and complains when I am)

Sleek with grace I make my presence known
purring at the sight that you are home
Giving you the pleasure of petting me for a while
knowing that it never fails to leave you with a smile

scratching at the couch is what i do best
Chasing your bare feet, and getting lots of rest
pretending that I have no clue just what you said
bringing you some gifts of prey that Ive made dead

I know it seems to you I dont care when you are near
But thats because when you are out my calls you do not hear
I cry until my throat is hoarse because I miss you so
How much I really need you I think this you need to know

    That's so cute :)
I'm having a blonde day, it took me a minute to realize you weren't talking about a kid lol (scratching at the couch and purring.. I'm slow).
What a sweet poem, I love the third line. From a cat's point of view, they let us pet them to make the human happy. It's an interesting thought.
