Never to Return

by The Wingless   Mar 11, 2006

Two different dreams
One misty evening
Your face is fleeting
Away from my view

A conversation
Was left unfinished, long ago
Someone chose that horrible day
It's today the day, the one we knew

Some things seemed unreal
Like hands grasping the sky
Was there a white darkness
Was your heart crying?

At times, I draw one-way maps
I drew my endless dreams
Using shaking fingers
I live in the empty palace of my heart

This broken string
Is the sign
That shows I cannot return
Finally, it unraveled on the cold floor

I'm shining with frozen tears
Can you see me still?
Clouds cover my heart
Can you forgive me?

At times, I lost one-way maps
And I looked, for what seemed like eternity
For the contents of the map
Even if I withered up then
Would you still know I'm sorry?

Things still haven't healed
Where the trails left marks
A river flows
Steadily

At times, I draw one-way maps
I drew my endless dreams
Using shaking fingers
I live in the empty palace of my heart

Never to return.
