Underneath your make-up

by Iola   Mar 20, 2006

Your heart of stone says “keep away”;
But your eyes shout you want me to stay?
Your thick skin resistant to me skinning you;
But your fingertips sing something true…

Your face flares with passion.
But your teeth crack with fear.
A resemblance of fashion.
But under your make-up rolls and rolls and rolls a tear…

Your words speak of wisdom, but your heart is a fool.
Your reaching arms empty with hope.
You run away from a life that’s cunning and cruel;
But around your small ankle clench a rope…

Your face flares with passion.
But your teeth crack with fear.
A resemblance of fashion.
But under your make-up rolls and rolls and rolls a tear…

You will keep on running, but you will have to stop;
And turn around to face what’s yours.
Someday you’ll surrender, just keep watching the clock.
And recognize this very strong force…

Your face flares with passion.
But your teeth crack with fear.
A resemblance of fashion.
But under your make-up rolls and rolls and rolls a tear…
