Her Old Jack

by Bloomed Rose   Mar 21, 2006

A small little girl
Was staying home alone
While she was sitting on the couch
She was staring at the phone

Her parents were out looking
They'd lost their good dog Jack
For they were out there searching
To try and bring him back

The phone number was on the poster
There was a picture for them to see
But no one called or emailed
Where could old Jack be?

When her parents came home that night
They had something sad to tell
They couldn't find their dear dog Jack
No matter how loud they'd yell

The next morning they received a phone call
It seemed that he'd been caught
But when my mom got off the phone
She told me he'd been shot

That day she went to school
She held her head down low
She'd just lost her dearest friend
Why'd he have to go?

At lunch she tried to sit alone
But her friends came to her table
They tried hard to cheer her up,
But her spirit wasn't able

"To be sad is a horrible thing,"
They said to her with care
"There will always be these things in life
That we all have to bare"

So then she had decided
To have a better day
To smile and giggle with all her friends
and laugh her sorrow away

Even a smile can make your day
This she knows is true
So she'll try to make another's day
The question is will you?
