The Home of the Brave

by A Former Outcast   Mar 27, 2006

After spending so many years,
In this great American madness,
In my soul certain feelings stir,
Among which are pity and sadness.

America, the home of the brave
where we fight many wars
where corruption continues to thrive in our lives
and all we care about is scores.

When I was young, the country seemed good
and I felt like it would never end.
Then came the start of the war in Iraq
then there were no values to defend.

America, the home of the brave
where the budget is always tight
and any person can be bought
if the price is right.

Eventually, in the future,
this country will surely end.
And everyone then will attack our lands,
but there will be nothing to defend.

America, the home of the brave,
where darkness always spreads
and people are scared all the time
this should be the Land of Dreads.

As corruption continues to grow much worse,
and pain continues to spread,
It becomes quite readily apparent to me
this country is hanging by a thread.

America, the home of the brave
where hate is always there
and people keep dying, dropping like flies,
until death is everywhere.

As we watch in horror,
the nukes will begin to fly.
The message will spread among us:
we are all going to die.

America, the home of the brave
where Hell is always near,
and Hells gates are slowly opening,
as we are all gripped in fear.

LOVE the poem Banta!! It was great! I feel really the same way about our lovely U.S.A. I don't feel like our morals are being kept. It really is a shame.

    Keep it up!
