Sweet Sixteen

by LiL One   Jan 27, 2004

One, mama's so proud of her baby girl.
Two, she brushes her hair as it begins to curl.
Three, mama loves how she whispers in her ear, saying I love you.
Four, she sits by her bed, the first time she has the flu.
Five, mama walks her to school.
Six, she punishes her when she breaks a rule.
Seven, mama taught her how to read.
Eight, she tells her someday she will succeed.
Nine, mama's friend dies, she is sad.
Ten, the first time she asks about her dad.
Eleven, Shes in middle school,
Twelve, she starts smoking weed, she think its cool.
Thirteen, mama and her get in their first fight.
Fourteen, she found a boyfriend, who she thinks is right,
Fifteen, she gets pregant with a child,
Sixteen, she remembers nine months later, when her baby smiled.
Mama is so disappointed in her,
her life is now all in a blur.
But her baby took the wrong direction,
and she forgot to use protection.
She thought she raised her daughter right,
but some how, alls her daughter knew how to do was fight.
and mama remembers how her baby girl said I love you, too.
Now alls she hears is I HATE YOU!
But now mama must let baby go,
so she has time to grow.
She was just a teen, not ready for this routine,
Sweet Sixteen.
