The Boy Next Door

by LiL K   Mar 31, 2006

~This poem's about my ex-next-door-neighbor Charlie and the memories we shared growing up...~

You have been the boy next door
Ever since I can remember.
You have been there by my side
Since my third December.

We have watched each other grow..
You have always been my best friend,
And there's nothin about me you don't know
Cause your extra hand you'd always lend.

I remember in the spring
We'd watch the flowers bloom,
And when those April showers hit
We'd go hang out in my room.

I remember in the summer
When the weather was so warm..
We would run and play outside
Or chill in the garage during storms.

I remember in the fall
When we'd rake a mound of leaves...
And then with a short hesitation
We'd jump into them from my tree.

I remember in the winter
When the weather was so cold,
We would cuddle in my treehouse
God..we thought we were so old.

But now we're really all "grown up"
And instead of riding bikes, we drive cars...
Damn it won't be long before
We'll need a D.D to go to the bar!

No matter how long or strong,
Our friendship will always last..
And you will be the boy next door
I'll remember from my past.
