Broken

by Ruthie   Apr 3, 2006

Each step she takes
her shattered heart breaks
Never to recover
from the loss of another

She gave herself away
and now she has to pay
With tears from the deep
she begins to weep

There in no healing
there is no feeling
numb from the pain
never to trust again

She sinks to the ground
praying never to be found
and gives herself up
to drink from the cup

Embraces it's glory
and ends her story
rests her head
on her eternal bed

His feet hit the floor
as he slams the door
begins his last run
smiles at his fun

training all day
to make his way
he'll make it up there
if the game play is fair

fifth time around
his heart starts to pound
it's life starts to stop
As the man drops

Each on their own
their lives held on loan
is found in the park
way after dark

Each nearly dead
broken hearts lead
to where each was laid
and silently remade
