Recognition

She asked me why
our burdens only rise when we're drunk
she says we've been treading heavy water
but we're encouraging the flood
tired arms
and tired minds
refuse to rest
but somehow we appreciate
the pain that lingers in our chest
identify this immoral
seeking infatuation
with fingers pointed at our mothers
whom we think
have targeted our patience
tired lies
and tired mouths
refuse to sleep
we're nourishing the wolves
but ask who's murdering the sheep?
we've buried all the books;
projecting empty sentences
we're referring to support
through masochistic indexes
we've blindly swept
through the fields of our shame
searching for the innocence
we taught our children to maim.

she spread herself
so thin in my heart
so i made her bleed from her eyes
and pulled her wounds apart.

I really liked this poem, i had to read it twice! the language is beautiful and i love the subtle rhyming.

    tired arms
    and tired minds
    refuse to rest
    >
    tired lies
    and tired mouths
    refuse to sleep

these lines really help to break up the poem, but at the same time they help it to flow as well!
the message it expressed beautifully :) xx

It's really thought provoking. I didn't get most of it until the ending. I think it's how we create problems because we can't solve our inner demons and then blame someone else only to pass them along to our children. Maybe? Anyway, I don't know much about the title. But the rest of it was pretty good. I think the short lines added much more effect then the longer ones, but that's just me.

Sorry about the delay by the way :)
