Stand Beside Me.

by Daphne Darling   Apr 10, 2006

In a forgotten time I once trusted in life,
When your smile wasn’t a masking factor,
I saw the world from a different prospective,
And you stood there by my side, happy,

I'll say this now, if you’re still afraid,
You can stand there beside me,
And hide from everyone else,
Maybe they won’t notice you,

I think I've forgotten all you used to say,
But I think somehow that doesn’t matter,
For tomorrow is a different day for us,
And you'll sink further away with me,

I'll say this now, if you’re still afraid,
You can stand there beside me,
And hide from everyone else,
Maybe they won’t notice you,

To think your words once inspired me,
Made me fearless in face of all danger,
Now the cowering shadow falls on you,
And I am left protecting you from yourself,

I'll say this now, if you’re still afraid,
You can stand there beside me,
And hide from everyone else,
Maybe they won’t notice you,

I once asked you if I confessed you my fears,
Would you hide me away form them forever,
Now I'm thinking that is your line now,
And I'll never need to worry it ever again,

I'll say this now, if you’re still afraid,
You can stand there beside me,
And hide from everyone else,
Maybe they won’t notice you,

But I'm still quiet unsure of what to do,
I'm new to this and have no clue what I’m about,
Scary to think you made it look so easy,
Made me think it simple enough at first glance,

I'll say this now, if you’re still afraid,
You can stand there beside me,
And hide from everyone else,
Maybe they won’t notice you,

But please don't send me there without you,
Even if I'm meant to be the strong one,
I'm still scared without you beside me,
I can't face this reality without you there.
