I Long to be Free

I long to be a bird,
So I could fly away,
From this thoughtless,evil world,
Where I am bound to stay.

I feel just like a shadow,
Among this world of life,
I long to be a part of it,
But I don't fit in quite right.

Sometimes, it seems as though I'm stuck,
Behind lock and key,
In a cage on display,
For all the world to see.

I walk alone in this world,
With no one by my side,
No one understands me,
Do they even know I'm alive?

Do they notice me?
Will I ever be out of this cage?
So that I, like others, can live happy and free?
