Trapped

by xEmmax   Apr 17, 2006

A searing twinge of reckless hate
Pierces through her brain,
Each inch of happiness turns to ice
The warmth begins to drain.

Fed up of following this perfect pretence
Living life for all but herself,
Breaking her slowly, piece by piece,
A picture of decaying health.

A continuous failure, battling on
To live up to the goals she's been set,
Trapped in a cage of expectations
Which she knows just cannot be met.

Grades dropping with uncaring neglect
Whilst her parents haul in the lies,
Watching her sister win their praise
As she suffers accusing cries.

There's too much pressure building inside
She's sinking lower each day,
Attacking her body with strings of cuts
To distract the pain away.

Every night she lies awake
Silent tears stream down her face,
Thinking of making a selfish escape
To leave this lonely place.

People oblivious to her desperate thoughts
As she covers them from release,
A broken jigsaw pulled together by death,
She's searching for the final piece.
