Never for a Cause/At the Stake

by Aidyn   Apr 18, 2006

Sleep.
Shall I?
Do not patronize.
Do not pretend sympathy;
This shan't be my martyrdom--
I shall have glory without renown.

No one shall stand in my way.

You shall be the unwilling spectator.
You'll not turn your eyes.
You'll not show fear.
You shall watch.
I shall
Burn.

    I had meant to comment on this poem a while ago (but was too distracted by your other poem "anyways" - which completely freaked me out, btw)

    so here's my thoughts on this one: i can't seem to hit upon a good enough word in the thesaurus to describe it ^_^" it's short, yes.. (as is my preferred poem range) yet *brilliant* - especially with the visual format (which is more important than most poets believe - since, superficial though it may be, it is still the first thing that attracts readers to a poem: the look of it)...it flips my stomach upside down how professional it feels, and...i must admit...a tinge of envy

    on another note, i simply *had* to thank you for commenting on Bird's Eye View....i've been waiting for that one to get noticed - it was the first of my featured poems but never had votes or comments....that is...until now :)
