My replacement

by Caity   Apr 20, 2006

I look at her and see
a broken person
so hungry for affection
and you feed her

I look at you and see your
generous smile
that used to be for me
not she's the one you smile at

I used to be just like her
so broken and alone
until you came and stayed by my side
until she came and not your gone

She doesn't say a word
like she's to scared to talk
to you sympathize
and speak the words she cant

I wish you would
just take a moment to realize
as your saving her
your losing me

I cant be the "survivor"
for I'm not out of the woods
you left me here to stumble
while you guide her

I see you to so happy
each glowing with happiness
as i sit in the shadows
forcing a smile

An occasional wave
or a smile from you
is all i get now
i see her smile to and i look away

I turn from you with tears in my eyes
for now i know you replaced me
with someone who needs you
did you forget i needed you to?

written for the woman who was more of a mother to me than anyone.....she replaced me
