Sick World

by Alex   Apr 20, 2006

Cold eyes filled with angst
Wrought their tears down your cheek
The eyeliner runs dry once more
As you feel this noose clench your neck

Taut it is pulled and grates against skin
Causing these old wounds to open again
The scars they have left behind
Still line your body, soul and mind

In the depths of this chemical greed
In warfare and hatred amongst friends
There is no haven and still no shelter
From the corruption that holds us together

From our ever faithful servitude
We are blinded by the reality
That lays its ugly form right before our eyes
Walling up what is there with vile illusion

Wrenched from our spoils unfairly
Our bodies become unyielding to this pain
A threshold is drawn up
To our torment that we feel so well

Though our selves grow tired and frail
As existence remains such a paltry thing
During our lengthy stay in a state called living
Cheap pawns in a game rigged from the beginning

We won't ever dwindle away however
Each can leave a mark on the flesh of this ground
Polluted minds of humanity so brimming with arrogance
May tear us down, but can never really make us depart

The ropes hold on our necks are permanent and tight
Which binds us all to our agony
Unforgiving each time we crawl in this filth
And unable to let us strive

This emanating darkness is the life that claims us all
You cannot escape what is already laid ahead
For through this ever binding fate
There was never any way to win at all
