Casualty of the Heart

by Alex   Dec 30, 2007

The beating of a heart
It's such a strange, beautiful feeling
Since I have just died inside
Livid, scarce, and oh so appealing

Emotions are all bottled up
In my chest, it's a cage
Thick bone are the bars
To flesh that holds back rage

Why am I so pathetic
Writhing, pleading and screaming
Hoping it's some catastrophic lie
For you these tears are streaming

Down my face they make a wondrous pattern
Cutting like knives, betrayed and cold
It was my front they relished to stab
And to my face these lies were told

The beating of a heart
It's such a disgusting, ravaged thing
I suppose it has no use to me anymore
Go and cut out what only pain can bring
