Predator

by David   Apr 21, 2006

In silent hall
in shadows dark
Waits Predator
with bite, no bark

Her piercing eyes
see more than light
They'll find a kill
in deep of night

Her victim's close
he reeks of pride
She strikes with haste
throws care aside

His flailing arms
His silent scream
Her eyes light up
like diamonds, gleam

She reaches in,
hijacks his mind,
Kills self-deceit,
lies of all kind

She forces truth:
His life means naught
There is no “right”
Wars must be fought

He hits the floor,
his match been met
Not ready for
this knowledge yet

She lifts him up
so limp and loose
Now drainèd, he's
of little use.

A broken toy
she lets him fall
Abandons him
in silent hall

Her thirst unquenched,
her urge still keen
For now, she waits
silent, unseen

That was cool. The short lines worked perfectly to create a flow that was good and the content was darkly cool. Very intense in some parts and well it was great for a dark poem.
