Writing on the Walls

by d minor   Apr 22, 2006

Did they not see the writing on the walls,
The writing he wrote everyday,
Crimson on the walls,
Did they not see it clearly,
Anything could've happened,
If they had just seen the writing on the walls,
He could've been a doctor,
A musician,
Or a lawyer,
He could've solved world hunger,
Or cured the common cold,
But the great things he dreamt of,
Will never ever happen,
Because they never took the time,
To read the writing on the walls,

Crimson stains on a pure white wall,
Blackened at the edges,
Darkness crept into his heart,
And threw over ledges,
Writing on the walls,
All that will never ever happen,
Writing on the walls,

He could\'ve been a doctor,
A musician,
Or a lawyer,
He could\'ve solved world hunger,
Or cured the common cold,
But the great things he dreamt of,
Will never ever happen,
Because they never took the time,
To read the writing on the walls,

He told her it wasn\'t her fault,
Because he loved her so,
They could have grown old together,
Maybe raised a child or two,
They may have just got that dream house,
They always thought they would,
But the sad thing is,
It\'ll never happen,

Because they never took the time,
To read the writing on the walls,
And every day,
And every night,
Tears pour down,
For what heâ??d said and done,
For putting that writing on the walls,
He wrote in crimson red,
Which stained their hearts,
But they realized,
He just might be alive,
If they just had taken the time,
To read the writing on the walls,

Blood and shadows,
Crimson walls,
Fear and anger,
Deceit and neglect,
Crimson streaks down,
Through a pure sky,
A blade,
With itâ??s crimson friend,
Recounting things done,
Recounting things said,
It was his best friend,
His best ally,
And his confidant,

Writing on the walls,
All that will never ever happen,
Writing on the walls,
He could\'ve been a doctor,
A musician,
Or a lawyer,
He could\'ve solved world hunger,
Or cured the common cold,
But the great things he dreamt of,
Will never ever happen,
Because they never took the time,
To read the writing on the walls.
