Summertime

by David R Merry   May 1, 2006

Sunday morning, summertime!
In the garden, feeling fine!
In the air, wafting by!
Neighbours breakfast, bacon and wine!

Jug of orange, on the side!
With cubes of ice, on the tide!
Reducing their size, in the heat!
Pour me a glass please, it tastes so sweet!

Sticky ice cream, melts and falls!
The upset child, requests some more!
The family pet, walks by and scoffs!
The fallen cream, from icy grass!

Music on, and windows open!
Children playing, and mothers coping!
They fill a pool, with tepid water!
To splash someone near, who cowers shorter!

The day is ending, the light decending!
They find the bar-bi, it takes some mending!
What better way, to end the day!
Assured of friends, all on their way!
