The Obstacles In Life

by Mezmeryz   May 1, 2006

Things can be so perfect
So sweet and free, no strife
Then why don't people reject
The obstacles in life

Why do little things bring you down?
So badly you can't arise
In a whirlpool of emotions you drown
With the momentum of those lies

Those lies which kept you contented
Hiding the realities of your life
Keeping you from becoming demented
And the horrors of the knife

Be glad that you have been there
Like not many may have done
Be appreciative; you have been where
Not many have gone, and won

Be thankful; life has shown you
The dark side of its bright
Be pleased; you have lived through
The darkness to the light

Things can be so perfect
So sweet and free, no strife
Then why don't people reject
The obstacles in life

Because obstacles are to teach you
What life is all about,
Though it may all seem new
You'll live it through no doubt.

A really original spin on what is traditionally a very sensitive subject. I think this poem gives much to think about! Very well written the use of rhyme is flawless and never forced and gives the poem a really nice, even flow. Great work 5/5

The question was good but I noticed you used one question mark thoughout the whole thing. Maybe add some punctuation to keep the whole thing flowing a bit better. I think in one stanza you almost copied a line word for word twice, maye in two stanzas, and that just felt a bit off. It wa sa good poem and message none the less.

I loved the way you answered the question posed at the start of the poem - after moving through all the facts. Awesomely written, it kept the reader involved and loving every stanza.

    Peace. [Sole]
