176308 (holocaust)

by melly xx   May 5, 2006

Those numbers
so clear yet so faint
branded into her skin
remind her of the horrors
of the torture
the agony
the screaming
the starvation
the stench
the struggle
to survive during the holocaust
and what her life
use to be
her vision is blurred
and the images flash past her
causing her to
scream, and squirm
anything to get away
to demolish those memories
to never speak of them again
an impossible wish
the numbers are there
they exist, it happened
every dot of ink
speaks for itself
this was her number
she had no name
they called her 176308
her story, her pain
represented with these numbers
and those numbers
those deadly numbers
create a nightmare of their own
