Rush

by Strange Angel   May 6, 2006

Stranger, shadow, flicker past
Swiftly moving, get out fast
For in my head I hear your cry
And deep within I want to die
Your solemn face, so quiet, old
Shows not a story to be told
And yet I feel deep within
Your courage, strength is wearing thin
I turn around and catch your gaze
But lost and swallowed in the maze...
But moving quick I touch a hand
And fall into a lovers land
A spirit soaring, flying high
It's hard to want to leave this sky
Where all is nought but two in love
And all my joy carries way above
Passion, hope and cravings do
Nothing to quench the lust for you
But follow out and wander farther
Mind working to metaphorical lather
And as I glance at passers-by
Their stories drench and stain the sky
And I can read what I should not
I fancy I've found friendly thought
'Cause as I look at one more foe
I'm quick to feel what's not on show
And as the images scar my mind
A friendly thought does feel so kind
Not overwhelming, deep and sad
Not crazy, lustful, passion mad
But simply clear, an empty soul
No feelings in him, he is not whole
Simple images of cold black fire
And burning hope, a funeral pyre
The lost and desolate child of grief
Laying down his mourner's wreath
