A Mother's Promise

by Lu   May 8, 2006

Arms so protective
hold her baby near
gently touches his
cheek as she whispers

I promise to protect you
each and every day
teach you right from wrong
guide you along the way

I promise to hold your hand
wipe away your tears
tuck you in at night
chase away your fears

I promise to read you books
teach you your ABC's
apply a gentle bandage
when you scrape your knees

I promise to be understanding
when you've had a bad day
kiss your cheek and hug you tight
tell you everything will be ok

I promise to always love you
accept you as you are
the light of my life
my forever shinning star

A touching and beautiful poem. i loved it immensely. the flow and the way the words were constrcuted i think was the best part for me. although the poem is packed with love and emotion, it is the way in which you've strung them together. a truly wonderful piece.
