Until I lay Down

by Danielle   May 8, 2006

I'll keep telling myself
Your words don't mean a thing
That their sting doesn't invade my thoughts
But when the sky darkens
And dreams enter, I lay my head down
And cry

You keep shattering this illusion
Cracking the walls I've built
Tearing me apart with your words
And you don't see all you've done

I'll smile just for you
Shield my eyes of the sorrow deep inside
Tell you all you want to hear
And you'll never see the tears fall

I'll hold my head high
Pretend your everything I'll ever need
Guard my heart from your never ending attack at my soul
I'll keep it all in
Just to keep this facade alive

I'll keep pretending. . .
Until I lay down
