Soldier

Even though he is not here,
I know that he is watching me
I know my biggest fear, is that he has forgotten me
I would do anything to see his face one more time
When he was healthy and living in his prime.
I know he can see me get older and older.
My grandpa was a soldier,
Fighting a battle against time
All he wanted was to live longer
If only the medication had been stronger
Even though he is not here,
I know that he is watching me
