Mommy's Fault/Haunted

by michele deluca   May 13, 2006

Mommy's crying, head in hands
Says she doesn't understand
She'd let him stay out at night
Let him drink and get in fights
She was young once too, you know
She gave him space to let him grow
Didn't worry about his grades
Her theory was that bruises fade
When the cops had brought him home
She'd yelled, and then left it alone
Catching him, doing drugs
She said its cause his friends were thugs
"Dont bring that shit in my house"
She told him, "Get high somewhere else"
Single mother was her role
Her ex-husband was an a** hole
Left home when his boy was three
For his girlfriend in Miami
So when Mommy gets the call
She hears the words she dreads, then falls
Her son had died of drug O.D.
At the age of just sixteen
Her baby gone in just a blink
Where did she go wrong, she thinks
Gave him all he ever wanted
Now left alone, to be haunted
Maybe if she'd just been stricter
The story'd end with a different picture
But its too late now for regrets
Looks at his picture, she won't forget
Mommys crying, head in hands
She says she doesn't understand
Love of her life, never seen again
It was her fault in the end*
