Silent Participation

by michele deluca   Sep 14, 2006

This poem is for my little sister, to whom life has not always been so kind.

Secret tears and secret dreams
It's so much harder than it seems
Overlooked and overshadowed
If you're not heard then you don't matter
Secret pain, and hurting heart
Forever promises for a fresh start
In crowd, out crowd, in between
Slipping your way through life, unseen
Tag along, they're not waiting up
They're having fun, they're livin it up
Silent respones, lonely thoughts
Quietly listening, silent talks
The price to be popular, the price for fun
In your case, darling, you only get one
It's not too late to change your mind
These best years of your life soon slip behind
So make a change, start over new
And always remember, I'm here for you*

You little sister is lucky to have someone like you, also to have such a beautiful poem written in her honor, this was my favorite so far. flowed evenly and your choice in words made a beautiful brutal honest statement. great job
