The Trapped

by Ruthie   May 16, 2006

Soft wind upon our faces
Restless, tossing and turning
A gentle moan as if it feels
Our heart's deepest yearning

We walk as one alive and well
Joyful, youthful and young
But deep inside only we see
Dreams are shattered and hung

We are the hurt and depressed
Alone, abandoned and lost
The ones who hide it all too well
Avoid the sense of what it cost

We smile with sadness on those
Dramatic, public and dark
The ones who seek our attention
Their song as strong as the lark

"We want to die, kill us now
We want to die, life's too much
We want to die, we don't understand
We want to die, free from our crutch"

We know they don't want that
Blinded, corrupted and oppressed
They think it's stupid and silly to
Withstand their lives full test

We stand in sorrow as another passes
Silent, illusive and gracefully
Watch the tears from cold springs
Set another trapped free.
