A soldier's Dream

by LadyPearl   May 21, 2006

Where lies a soldier's home?
The land where freedom grow
Where lies the praying hands
As ages ever bloom slow

Representing all tears of liberty
The rememberence of love
Soft warm kisses from the sun
Somewhere in dreams above

Like a ship lost in the ocean
A soldier's mind is longing
Like a baby's opening eyes
They see what's worth living

To restore the land to happiness
And regain what people had
Yet why must we feel so down
When glory should make us glad

A soldier's dream lives in the palms
Of the devotion from his home
And every night, a message sent
Whispering, "you're not alone"

Beautiful. I really liked the unique perspective. All to often the life a soldier is portrayed in such an ugly manner, their occupation and the travesty of war too easily confused with the intent and will of the individual and I think that this portrayal is much more forgiving. That someone should wish to fight for peace, for what nobler cause is there? Great write. The imagery was stunning. 5/5 x

Fantastic imagry in this peice, and well written in general. i espessially like the final line it closes the poem very well and just seems to say so much in such a small space.

Your poem was beautiful and the vocab range was just bringing your poem to life. I might send this to afriend of mine who's in the military. My favorite piece of imagery was a baby's eyes opening. It was so innocent and pure that I loved it when Ir ead it and still do. A unique and beautiful description. The only thing I suggest is probably adding an s to freedom in this sentence to make the line make sense:
