False Fairy Tale

by GoddessOfWings   May 22, 2006

I am sitting, waiting,
For my special surprise,
And your hands feel different,
I want to know who you really are -
Under your cape,
Your red cape.
I don't want this apple,
It's too red and too sweet,
Something doesn't seem right,
Where are my seven siblings? -
Gone?
Where to?

What you try to deny now,
You can't possibly justify
I'm grown up and it's over,
I'm not your Little Red Rider anymore.
My glass slippers have cracked and are in the gutter -
I remember the screams, then apologies after,
The stories you told, unfold:
I lived a False Fairy Tale.

Do you like my curly hair, daddy?
It's pretty, long and golden -
But when you hug me, it hurts,
Because you're always pulling,
So, it then rips;
You let me cry.
When I lie down to sleep now,
I can feel a bump under the mattress - I hear the bump in the night;
You always call me your Princess,
And it always hurts, but I try,
Not to scream,
Not to fight.

What you try to deny now,
You can't possibly justify
I'm grown up and it's over,
I'm not your Little Red Rider anymore.
My glass slippers have cracked and are in the gutter -
I remember the screams, then apologies after,
The stories you told, unfold:
I lived a False Fairy Tale.

I was blinded by the precious stories of magic and love,
But in the end, I always knew:
You, father, were the Big Bad Wolf.
