Orders

by Brad Champagne   May 22, 2006

The battle is coming, the time is near,
Though the soldiers were ordered to not prepare.
"Spend your time in the light till the front should appear,"
Came my Captain's orders, an order so rare.

"The fights now are distractions," continued my friend,
"To keep us too weary to fight in the end."
"Sir, your orders are just, and I shall obey.
I will not fight till you command it that day."

So I spend my time in the light of the King
Who strengthens and guides me, and peace and calm brings.
In visions He shows me the way this may end,
Deafeat and victory, His message to send.

Should we fall and lose this fight,
The enemy builds a fort on this sight.
But, by God's grace, should we prevail,
A fortress this is upon the war's trail.
