Runaway Superman

by D C Edwards   May 24, 2006

They say Superman's a fly guy
But who's gonna fly
When he dies?
Todays Paper
Front Page!
Headline!
Superman has disappeared
Where he went?
No one knows
But he's not coming back
My question to you
Is who's gonna save the day
Now that Superman's gone away?
They say superman

Doesn't live here anymore
One day it was like
ITS A BIRD
ITS A PLANE
ITS SUPERMAN
In a cherry red drop top
Corvette with drop up-holster
Dang!
He was cruising into the setting sun on route 66
Crying that couldn't take it anymore
This superhero business
He just wanted to help

And People started treating him like a god

They say Superman's a fly guy

and he had some super fly super hearing too
no matter how many cotton balls he stuffed in his ears
he could always hear someone crying painful tears
can you imagine that?
Always hearing someone crying

They say Superman's a fly guy
But who's gonna fly

Because hes gone away
Said he was tired of everybody
Counting on him
To come in
And save their behinds
So he called in a favor at Chevrolet
And rode his little deuce coupe all day and all night
And everyone was wondering
Where their hero went

They say Superman's a fly guy
But who's gonna fly when he dies?
Can you tell me?
Because I don't think you understand
Do you want to know why Superman's gone?
He left
Because he knew
As long as he was around
He would always be your hero
And you would be blind to the
Look around you
You would be blind to the hero
In everyone who touches your life
Especially the one you see in the mirror
Every day
You have to fly
