The Dream

by Amelia   May 25, 2006

More concerned with the image then with whats actually there
You focus more on looks then how it works as if you dont care
You say you have a dream place to reside
But I think otherwise when I look inside
Painted on the outside but inside its empty and unknown
Its not wood and nails its the love inside that makes it a home
You say you have a dream life with your high paying career
But you dont enjoy doing your work so away from happiness you steer
You say you have a dream family with your children and spouse
You say its part of your dream life because they live in your house
Problem is half the time you're with another girl
All your children want is for you to be part of their world
Freshly painted house full of family and money
Newly cut lawn sky is clear and sunny
These are the images portrayed in this dream of a life
What others don't see is the true home of pain and strife
You can't live a dream life with the shell and nothing within
A smile isn't true if it's a forced and fake grin
In you dream life I see you telling your wife multiple lies
I see you say maybe tomorrow kids as the little one cries
I see you happy at work despite the money to your surprise
You achieved your dream life but you forgot to think it through
Everything is left empty here so this dream cant be true
Stop being worried about the imaged and focus on the inner core
If you live the true dream life I guarantee theres much more in store
Be the man whom your wife gives all of her trust
Keep a smile on the faces of your kids its always a must
Find a job you enjoy instead of working one with disgust
This is a real dream life its not what you thought it would be
The true dream is inside not always what the eye can see
