Jealousy

by Hanna   Jun 1, 2006

*PN: This is a poem that I wrote about someone I cared for and someone who I left not too long ago. Also part of one of my collections '7 Deadly Sins' which will have more poems featured later on. Please leave a comment on what you like or how I could improve. Thank you for your time. Enjoy!

There is always someone better,
Who has the life you want to lead,
You start to focus more on what they have,
Even if it's something you don't need.

When you see them, your blood just boils,
Inside you want to scream,
Why can't I have what they have?
Why is God so mean?

You're turning green with envy,
You don't realise what you've got,
You don't notice the important things,
You want everything you're not.

The more they get, the more you want,
You think that life's unfair,
It breaks you down, drives you insane,
You wallow in despair.

Then someone that loves you,
Sees your jealousy,
And suddenly by your side,
Is not where they want to be.

They tell you that you're better,
But you don't listen to what they say,
They shed a single tear for you,
And slowly walk away.

For awhile you don't notice,
But there's an emptiness within,
And suddenly you see what you had,
And what you could've been.

You finally see what mattered,
The things that meant a lot,
The things that you had always had,
The things that you forgot.
