What she said

by Chelsey   Jun 1, 2006

Not one person could understand her
For some reason she wasn’t like everyone else
People thought she had way too many problems
They all stared at her instead of helped

Her parents were just going through hell
Struggling financially, and want a divorce
Her mom had two miscarriages this year
Both parents were at the end of their course

Her boyfriend cheated on her with her best friend
She almost went to prison a month ago
School broke her down each day
She wanted a friend and not a foe

She felt stranded in a desert
The heat pushed her in the sand
She’d cry out to herself
“Just get off of this land!”

Of course suicide dominated her list
Something went wrong each time she tried
She just didn’t want to be on Earth
Since every hour all she did was cry

But one night she dug under her bed
Looking for her dead brothers knife
That night she was going to do it
This poor girl was going to end her life

But she came across an unknown letter
A name at the bottom wasn’t there
Surprisingly this anonymous person’s word
Seemed as if they cared

They told her there’s a God in heaven
Who will be disappointed if she gives up
They said to wash in holy water
Or drink out of a holy cup

They said when all else fails
Turn to the man above
For he will never leave or forsake you
He’ll always show you endless love

So kneeling on her concrete floor
She said “God there’s no food or water in this desert I’m in
I need your help so bad Lord
And please forgive me of my sins”

She felt him inside of her
Her goose bumps raised every single hair
She heard “Dust yourself off mighty warrior”
And that proved that he was there

She felt the burdens lifted off her shoulder
And this is what she said
“Lord bring on the heat wave
Father I don’t want to be dead”

“God let my skin get burnt
Let my mouth run dry
In this hot desert I’m in I have you
And I will no longer cry”
