The Other Side

by Bill Turner   Jun 3, 2006

What is on the other side of life?
A question I ask as I turn the page
Another year has passed, time not lost
Heaven, hell, reincarnation...who really knows
The older I get, the more this thought grows

Will I be judged for what I have become?
Or is my fate based on who I once was?
Will there be no judgment at all...living again
Maybe my spirit will die as I do
Turning to dust when I am through

None of this really matters as I live this life
Trying to do what is right and be the man I am
Living each day as if it were my last
Giving of myself to others the only real test
When I pass will they remember me best

As I grow older, refusing to grow up
I embrace life like a child of discovery
Each new day to be treasured like never before
Awash in a sea of love, peace and tranquility
Will the memories change in the face of senility?

    (3rd line)
    "Past" should be passed.

The poem isn't very original, I've heard a couple of those lines that you've written before in other writings as well as in books and preaching, story telling and pimp talk.

Over all I liked the whole idea of it though, you're an honorable young man and it's good you choose to be one.
To think about these things is only natural, but to write about it well is another thing. Everyone will know the answer to all of those questions once the time comes, but once it comes how will that person write about it?

Take this idea and dig into it, you haven't ruined the idea just yet, infact you've just started a good brainstorm.

    I gave this a 4, good job.
