Close To Death

by Catastrophic Beauty   Jun 3, 2006

Do you realize how fast someone's life can change?
One minute they can be laughing and smiling.
Next thing you know they're on the floor deranged,
Then you start to panic and its 911 that you're dialing.

Soon you're looking through the hospital room windowpane,
Without blinking you gaze at the person just lying there.
The doctors won't speak to you, you need them to explain,
What happened and why there is alot of tubes every where.

Finally a doctor comes out with a cozy smile to greet you,
And tells you that "Everything is going to be alright,
They had a heart attack and calling 911 was the best to do,
You can go and see them now if you would like."

With those promising words, your whole mood switched,
When you got into the room their eyes were still sealed.
You promptly but slowly took their hand and gave it a kiss,
They smiled as their warm sparkling eyes calmly revealed.

You talk for a while until the doctor comes in and speaks,
Tells you "Sorry but visiting hours are over, its past nine."
You say goodbye and leave the room with one last peek,
Walk away with a grin knowing things are going to be fine.

This poem was inspired by my boyfriend's mother who had a heart attack, but survived...
Please comment and vote I'll do the same for you, and I couldn't think of a good title so if you have a better one please comment me and tell me, thanks alot.
