My soilder

by Ellie   Feb 20, 2004

Fighting a war within himself
attempting to prove
himself to those who never
thought he was worth approval

Those who refused
to see
that so much of him
was in me

Those who set goals,
they never thought he'd reach
heights they never thought he'd fly
and him never failing me to teach

cared for me,
when no one else cared
Loved me,
when no one else dared

to show love,
my soldier,
is now someone

(dedicated to my brother Eric, who joined the army, after being told for years he would never amount to anything. But he always told me to believe that I could do anything I wanted, and that he'd always be there for me.)
