Hidden Truths

by Simon Hayes   Jun 6, 2006

Stand before me, look at the sky
Do you see those clouds passing by?
Each one of them represents
Times in my life, achievements, events

The sun that's beaming down to earth,
Has looked upon me since my birth
You disappeared, long ago
My dad has been there come shine or snow

You turn up here, expect my story,
Hoping to shine in ultimate glory
Only one man stands for my respect
My life he'll always try to protect

The clock cannot go back in time,
To when I was in my prime
Did I question where you were?
Memories back then, are just a blur

Did I cry? I know my daughter would!
Did you love me like you should?
Teach me things, read me stories
Buy me toys of cars and lorries?

Was Christmas special, my birthday too
As each year on I grew and grew?
I don't feel a hole in my heart,
For anytime we were apart

Someone special came to the rescue
He's honest, pure and always true
Made me what I am today
HE is my dad, I'm proud to say!

So I didn't miss you, did you miss me?
It's only the truth that I need to see
No pain will be caused or hearts broken
With the truthful words that need to be spoken

But the truth remains locked away,
Is that where it's best to stay?
Perhaps one day it will be revealed,
For now everyone's lips are sealed.

It seems like you pulled up some old pain and bad memories for this piece. Wow...I love it! Awesome how only ONE parent can make up for what the other lacks...my mother (my mother AND father) all in one...she's amazing. So simply you prove that here...Awesome write!!!
