A Lesser Luncheon

by Dana   Jun 6, 2006

***Based on Renoir's painting The Luncheon of the Boating Party' http://www.renoir.org.yu/paintings/luncheon_of_the_boating_party.jpg ***

A mighty impression,
That is frozen within your obsession
These misleading brushstrokes make.
The guests seek to leave the oppression.

A serious nation is growing,
Imagination is slowing.
The scenery is bland,
The rivers have all stopped flowing,

To stay, appreciation was required,
The guests on your boat have retired.
Bonsoir Monsieur Renoir,
A luncheon was once desired.

** Criticism welcome with open arms..please!**

Sorry, I don't know what Rubai form is. The beginning was complicated to grasp, because usually I am used to simple words that just say what they mean, but this is also good exercise to the mind.
