A father's love (pt2)

by BlueDreams   Jun 12, 2006

The letter I try to write
but then I thought
how does a father tell his son
the value of his smile
the glisten in his eyes
or the warmth of his heart
and all wonderful things

You see, son, in each life
we are given gifts, gifts from god
of those gifts, the smile of a child
the warmth of their heart
and the joy of their song God and nature
have a way of making all things clear
all things right

Each night on the marsh
or in the town
i sit and talk to heavens,
my thoughts sending hoping,
my spirit, you will hear the sound
i miss the things we do in hours few
but most of all, Dear son, I miss you...

Funny, for years
i have been alone
and then you came along
probably my off key singing
of that melody nighttime tune
son, I wish you could understand

its not you or I But others
some reason the games they play
but don't you understand
there will never come a day
within my heart, my being , my soul
each day as you grow young
and I grow old

My heart beats and ponders.
will I hear your voice today
or will it be like last week
with the phone they play
when I call to hear your voice
or to say simply I love you

So, even if the video is in
for they know I will call
or the times she refuses
to pick up the phone
knowing I will call

Know that I love you, son,
hear with your heart, I pray
no man in a robe
or grams or gramps
can ever take the smile of you,
my wonderful son
or the song in my heart

Son, none of them
can even make that start
my soul is yours
throughout hell and fire
because, dear son,
you are my heart
and my life's fire

Daddy loves you, you are first
and foremost then I suppose
it is worth the price I pay
to hear you say
"I love you, Daddy"
but know that, even apart,

i sit here knowing of a happy face.
a son who is no other
not theirs, but mine
and to you, dear son,
i pledge my love
for today and all time

So, if my old hands tremble
or a tear you see in my eye
know, dear son, it's till next time
when my heart, again becomes alive.

I'm lost for words. This poem really opened my eyes and my heart. A wonderful poem. The moment I started reading it, I couldn't stop. Your words were chosen well. You grasped the true feelings a father has for a son, and you did it so well. I am speechless.

It is so sad when people use children as pawns in their battle. I can see that you love your son very much, He will know it too, You will be there for him, never stop trying to be with him more he will recognize that as a sign of your love for him. Good luck, my prayers are with you.

As beautiful as a poem can be... this is it. This is indeed a heartstopping poem. You wrote it so well, and described the love of a parent so well. I'm just speechless.

    Best Wishes
