Escaped

by Robert   Jun 13, 2006

The leaves have fallen
Leaving trees for another year.
The vast expanse of lakes frozen
Until the sun arises anew.
The creatures are hibernating,
Postponing the inevitable.
Cold covers the land,
Filling him with hatred and dread,
He's unable to find serenity.
Where does he go from here?
To the east or to the west,
To the north or to the south.
There's a haze overhead,
Dimming the moonlight
Which was to guide him,
But it's turned invisible.
Wondering through unknown lands,
Desperately trying to escape
From the wrath of the wind
That shrouds him in confusion.
The search continues through
Snow capped mountains
And seemingly endless valleys.
The stars dissipate
And light arises again,
Illuminating the soil
Of my kingdoms.
Despite this,
The storm rages in,
Turning everything a matt black.
The rain falls in torrents
Flooding and inundating,
Melting the ice, lifting,
Rising up above his head.
He's asphyxiating helplessly,
What can he do?
No one will save him from this,
This fury running throughout the land.
He has perished, his spirit exited,
Suspended in transit it floats
Into my hand. I blow it away,
In a plume of smoke it goes,
To the place it once came from.
