Had you been sleeping

by Helen   Jun 16, 2006

Foundation built
on prescription pain
my heart is made of cellophane
that rips and tears for slow decay
but mends the cloth
that's torn and frayed
your voice it rings
a dial tone
eclipsing selfish telephones
that wipes it clean, and then lets go
you know not what you do
teeth you use to sink in flesh
and lips that sweet talk
and kiss the rest
you're not so special
once undressed
that ruins birthdays
and promises
it kills me that you do.
a masochistic remark
that makes me squirm
and as if a lark
feelings spout like fireworks
and die away by noon.
and once you knew
my heart was yours
you apologized with sweeter words
that caused a breakdown to match
the worst
with strings still tied to you.

Is this the one you submitted to your Lit Class??

I think that's the most hard-hitting right there. Made me sigh. lol
