The Trees Shall Sigh

by Lu   Jun 16, 2006

Inhaling toxic pollutions
struggling for breathe
leaves turn brown
fluttering helplessly
descending slowly
upon weeping grass
arms of green
amputated by ignorance
bloody heedless hand of man
bearing selfish claws
as millions sigh
execution tears
aware their rings
will soon be counted

touching once beautiful bark
tracing circles of time
mourning their death

Beautifully haunting. You have a wonderful way with words my dear and this piece showcases that perfectly.
Such a sad thing when a tree is brought to the ground....there's never a good reason for it.
Take care and keep it up~Holly

I love this poem! I'm very much a tree-hugger and this touched me deeply. Its for reasons like these that I want to be en environmental lawyer. A deep truthful poem! Amazing!

Definitely made the life of trees more graphic than I would have liked to have experienced. Good poem, excellent descriptions and metaphors.

    The ending was particularly beautiful.

Ohhh I love the imagery here Luanne! That was a relaxing piece. If trees are living things, can they sigh too?.. lol
